Continental Controls and Design meets our customer’s requirements for the smallest combined GPS/INS autopilot in the world.  We also serve the needs of other customers when we leverage the same core processor technology in other products, such as mortar fire control sights and meteorological data packages.

Miniature Autopilot -- Tiny Guidance Engine (TGE)

The premier product at CCD is the Tiny Guidance Engine (TGE).  This unit is a full 6 DOF inertial measurement unit, coupled with an off the shelf GPS unit, and incorporating the full capability for guidance, navigation and control functions, including servo motor control output.

The TGE and support services have been sold to both commercial and government agencies for control of micro UAV’s.  The latest revision of the TGE (version 2.0) is slated for a June 2005 release.

Locust MAV

The Locust UAV is an 18 inch span autonomous aircraft developed in part for the U.S. Army for real time video surveillance.

A backpackable system, the Locust is capable of flight operations in 30+ mph wind, 5km+ range, 30 minute + duration while being extremely rugged.

Electronic Sight Units
(image coming soon!)The Continental Controls and Design Electronic Sight Unit (ESU) is an electronic replacement for the standard geared mortar sight with built in ballistic fire control capability for use with Army and Marine Corps mortar systems.  Developed under a Phase II SBIR project, we are transitioning this product into a production unit for sale to those agencies.  Future upgrades will include a laser range finder for direct fire capability as well as Bluetooth technology for network capability.
Smart Ride Actuator (SRA)

The world's smartest, most compact solution for a fully integrated, brushless electric motor controller.

The Smart Ride Actuator (SRA) is a fully self-contained, microprocessor controlled, high-power actuator utilizing electric brushless motor control. In conjunction with the appropriate mechanical drive and sensor inputs, the SRA can be used for anything from automatic ride control to regenerative power conservation. Integrated with today's fast rib boats or other naval applications, the SRA provides flexible, powerful actuator control.

Meteorolgy and Data Acquisition Packages
(image coming soon!)Our meteorology turbulence data acquisition package is slated for deployment in a 5 inch diameter pod towed behind a Twin Otter airplane.  Data acquired by this system includes GPS position, inertial attitude, absolute and differential pressure, temperature, and humidity.  The same technology we use here is adaptable to small form factor data acquisition for any other need.
