Continental Controls and Design, Inc. was formed and incorporated in California in 1999. Prior to incorporation, CCD was based in San Pedro and focused on computer software consulting. In 1999, the new company president changed the direction of the company to focus on defense related projects, specifically guidance, navigation and control activities.
CCD’s current offices are located in both Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley, California. CCD controls a number of computer, test, and assembly assets to support the design, development and production of guidance computers, fire control computers, and instrumentation packages. |

Continental Controls and Design’s president, Jim Hynes, received his MSEE from USC in 1983. Until 1997, he was a senior systems engineer in Advanced Concepts at Lockheed Martin Aeronutronic, where he was the division expert in guidance and control. Mr. Hynes was involved in the aerodynamic design and analysis of several missile and gliding munitions concepts. His experience includes Predator, Sidewinder, Chaparral, and the Sgt. York Division Air Defense gun (DIVAD), and many other advanced concept aerodynamic vehicles.
With the addition of Matt Ryan in 2004, Continental expanded from smaller SBIR projects into autopilot development, UAV limited production, and other intensive efforts typically accomplished by larger aerospace firms. Mr. Ryan earned a BSME and MSME from Purdue University in '92 and '94, and an MBA in 2001. With a broad background in aerospace and other areas, Mr. Ryan provided the technical and managerial experience to promote further company growth. Since 2004, CCD has grown from spot contracts with minimal dollar value to a vibrant business exceeding a million dollars in revenue since 2005 by providing innovative solutions to hard problems and effectively satisfying customers needs. |
